Serving Opportunities

There are numerous ways to be involved in serving the local community. Here are some of the current needs. Get in touch with Dan Burrows for more information, or to express an interest in a particular role:

CAP
  • A Debt Coach: Christians Against Poverty runs a network of debt counselling community outreach centres throughout the UK, each one in partnership with a local church. Each of these centres is run by a Centre Manager, who is responsible for the work in that particular centre and the Debt Coach will work alongside them to help deliver that service. We are looking for a new  Debt Coach is to help provide good quality debt advice to people taken on by the CAP Wandsworth centre as CAP clients and to do this in such a way as it positively reflects the Christian faith and the core values of the charity. The time commitment would be eight hours per week, comprising of two sessions of four consecutive hours, with at least one session being within normal working hours of 9am – 5pm, Monday to Friday.
  • Community Links Co-ordinator to help with the publicity of the debt help service, Release Group and Money Course.
Food Bank
  • Could you volunteer to go on a rota as a driver or heavy-lifter on Mondays during the day to collect food donations for Wandsworth Foodbank?
  • Due to increase in demand, Wandsworth Foodbank has expanded greatly & we are running out of space at St Mark's! Do you know of any free storage space available that we could use to store Foodbank stock? Or would you like to donate money towards the cost of this?
Spear
  • People working for London-based companies who would be happy to host a small group of trainees for an afternoon! (We can make this very easy and have a structure/brief so as to ensure that the afternoons run smoothly. These afternoons enable the trainees to get a brilliant insight into a professional working environment.
  • Potential guests/people to bring friends to the Spear Fundraising Party on June 16! Plus volunteers for the evening and auction prizes.
  • People/ homegroups to come and volunteer/simply attend our wonderful Celebration evenings (formerly known as Graduations).
